Pleasant Creek RV Park

Most RV space in this campground are tight, pretty level, but leave little room for recreating. On 2nd day, asked to me moved from site 9 to site 57 until Oct 1st, then we moved to site 55.
Site 57 was absolutely devine! This campground was extremely quiet, had a few small herds of deer and turkey walk through each morning and evening, and had a beautiful view of the mountains in the background.

We really enjoyed the trees. They were small crooked oaks that left enough foilage on the ground where we could walk through and see through most areas. It gave us a feeling of beeing in Eden, as we watched the deer less than 20' away, and the turkeys within 10, right in our yard.
Several days, we foraged for dead wood which was easy to find, so we had free firewood as well. Joseph and Tina even met up with here, stayed next to us, and we enjoyed the visit by the fire for 2 nights in a row. They left us some actual firewood. lol!

During our visit, we took a day trip to Salt Lake City to the Apple store and to look around for tables. Got a few ideas. We also took a day trip to Helper which is on the other side of the mountain, to get the SurboGX.. It was awesome driving through the Canyon road and seeing such beautiful colors. Another day, we took a day trip to the vet for some shots, then went shopping, then decided it would be fun to take some remote roads up in the mountains for some more scenery. Skyway drive was awesome, but scary and very bumpy. At least 4 hours later we returned home exhausted. It was fun though!

It was difficult to leave this place, as we found such peace and comfort while being out amongst God's creatures. I can't say enough about this campground, but we not only enjoyed the stay, but the people were nice and they are doing a good job (as new owners) updating required areas of the grounds. This place is a bit out of the way, but if we're in the area and need some down-time again, it's well worth the stay.

Another amazing dispersed camping site at the Flaming Gorge Reservoir, an awesome plant-based meal, and an amazing resourceful hubby rigging up a cell booster (my phone is in the shoe)..

Wind River View Campground

Spent some down-time at this resort mostly because it was a bit out of the way and we needed to do laundry. It was really a low-key, low-maintenanced resort that had no amenities. We did like the cabin-looking bathrooms and enjoyed seeing the raptor and his nest at the grounds.
Mark utilized the down-time by cleaning the truck and the camper, and organizing the storage compartments in the rig. I utilized the down-time by cleaning up the rig, washing down the window sills, getting laundry done and giving Pica a slight haircut.

Even though we enjoyed our down-time, I must say, I don't see a reason to return to this resort.

Grand Tetons

Wished for a sunset view of the Tetons from our next campsite, and hubby delivered! Of course, it’s Labor Day weekend and the parks are buzzing with last minute travelers, but that’s ok. We have a full tank of fresh water, and we’re looking forward to spending some time touring the Teton area, Jackson Hole, and whatever else we find.

Travel Day!
We downloaded an app called “Just Ahead”, which narrates spots of interest along your path in the parks. Taking advantage of the subscription for all parks, we had a narrated tour traveling through the southern end of Yellowstone on our way to the Tetons. We would highly suggest this app, we learned more about the park today than we have all week! Did you even know there is a submersed steamboat in Lake Yellowstone? They ended up taking the boilers out and using it for the heating system at one of the lodges! How cool is that!
So, if you are headed to some National Parks and love to learn from interpretation, check out the “Just Ahead” app.

A Day at the Park::
The “Just Ahead” app gave us a nice educational tour around the park todoay. We first drove back up through the southern gate of Yellowstone, viewing the last spots we wanted to see. Thus, we toured all five entrances to Yellowstone. We then toured as many of the Tetons area we could, including Jenny lake, all the pull-off points, the Elk Refuge (didn’t see any Elk) and many of the back roads.

We are saddened at all the wildfires in the area, and this ‘old west’ needs some rain really bad. We have only seen 2 full days of rain since we left MI, and even though that’s good for hiking & biking, it’s bad for the economy/farmers. The photo on the left shows a usually clear photo, but the haze is from the wildfires from California (according to the weather station). The lake remains clear, cold and beautiful. This was taken during one of our small hikes from a pullout.

Returning back home after dinner, we found we had new neighbors; some Solitude owners! (same brand of camper we have, different model). We’ll have to try to meet them tomorrow. :-)
Good Night & Hugs to all!

Yellowstone National Park

After spending 3 non-consecutive days at Yellowstone National Park, we logged over 1,000 miles in the park (mostly due to 2 roads being closed), saw over 500-ish Bison, 2 herds of Elk, 0 Bears, 0 Moose, an Eagle, and finally a Coyote. On the 3rd day, we decided to visit Bighorn Canyon, then head to the north-east entrance of Yellowstone. We drove on the Bear Tooth pass, climbed to an 11,000ft elevation where we took photos of the remaining glaciers and glacier lakes. It was a super long drive back into the park, but we finally drove through Lamar Valley which is where most of the Bison live. Supposedly, the moose, elk and wolves live nearby too. Finally, we were able to see a Coyote up on the hill, and barely got the video of him.
We had to drive on the far west side of the park because the canyon roads were closed, and by the time we returned home, it was after midnight. By this time, we’ve driven around the park for 3 days, and gave up on seeing a bear. Quite a different experience from when I was young where bears frequented the roads and were fed by visitors.

The animals were pretty sparse at Yellowstone for us. Our eyes hurt at the end of the day because we watched so hard to see glimpses of the animals in their own habitat. 3/4 of the way through the first day, we finally saw our first bison. When we headed to the north entrance, an entire herd of elk were laying around in town. We filled with gas, and headed south to go back home, what would be another 2-1/2 hour drive. It was late, and was after midnight by the time we returned home.

Suggestions: If you are planning on traveling to Yellowstone, we have a few suggestions for you. Check ahead on which roads are closed. Know that you will be traveling a LOT! Plan on taking your time, and know that you will probably not see everything. Download the Yellowstone app on your phone, it will follow you through the park where there is no cell signal. There are gas stations in the park, but they are 20 cents more expensive if that matters. There is a nice town just outside the north side of the park which has a LOT of cute shopping, restaurants and gas. Take your lunch, dinner, and snacks; binoculars, camera, and a change of clothes. Temperatures change quickly in the mountains.
