Wished for a sunset view of the Tetons from our next campsite, and hubby delivered! Of course, it’s Labor Day weekend and the parks are buzzing with last minute travelers, but that’s ok. We have a full tank of fresh water, and we’re looking forward to spending some time touring the Teton area, Jackson Hole, and whatever else we find. Travel Day! We downloaded an app called “Just Ahead”, which narrates spots of interest along your path in the parks. Taking advantage of the subscription for all parks, we had a narrated tour traveling through the southern end of Yellowstone on our way to the Tetons. We would highly suggest this app, we learned more about the park today than we have all week! Did you even know there is a submersed steamboat in Lake Yellowstone? They ended up taking the boilers out and using it for the heating system at one of the lodges! How cool is that! So, if you are headed to some National Parks and love to learn from interpretation, check out the “Just Ahead” app. A Day at the Park:: The “Just Ahead” app gave us a nice educational tour around the park todoay. We first drove back up through the southern gate of Yellowstone, viewing the last spots we wanted to see. Thus, we toured all five entrances to Yellowstone. We then toured as many of the Tetons area we could, including Jenny lake, all the pull-off points, the Elk Refuge (didn’t see any Elk) and many of the back roads. We are saddened at all the wildfires in the area, and this ‘old west’ needs some rain really bad. We have only seen 2 full days of rain since we left MI, and even though that’s good for hiking & biking, it’s bad for the economy/farmers. The photo on the left shows a usually clear photo, but the haze is from the wildfires from California (according to the weather station). The lake remains clear, cold and beautiful. This was taken during one of our small hikes from a pullout. Returning back home after dinner, we found we had new neighbors; some Solitude owners! (same brand of camper we have, different model). We’ll have to try to meet them tomorrow. :-) Good Night & Hugs to all! Stay Location: 43.7638, -110.5527 (Jackson, WY)
